HVAC Systems Technician

In Laurel’s 12-month diploma program for HVAC Systems Technician you’ll gain knowledge in the design, install and repair of a variety of systems, including central air conditioning, HVAC, or refrigeration systems. The program also has a focus on Building Automations Systems, which is essential to a multitude of growing industries.
Skills Development:
Learn unit installation and replacement
Gain knowledge in preventative maintenance to perform routine checks, checking, testing, and calibration
Use specialized tools to check voltage and check system pressures
Understand the installation of filtration systems, humidity control, and ventilation
Gain understanding in Building Automation Systems and the centralized network of hardware and software
Laurel’s HVAC Systems Technician program is designed to train students in the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Our curriculum blends classroom theory with hands-on lab work, ensuring students can troubleshoot complex electrical circuits and mechanical components. Throughout the program, students gain a deep understanding of thermodynamics, airflow dynamics, and the refrigeration cycle.
Our instruction includes modern technologies, such as high-efficiency heat pumps, to meet the demands of an evolving energy market. Students will also gain skills and understanding in building automation systems which provides the high-level data technicians need to find and fix issues without having to physically open every unit first. A portion of the curriculum is also dedicated to safety protocols and the legalities of handling hazardous refrigerants. Beyond technical skills, the program emphasizes reading blueprints and interpreting technical manuals to ensure systems are built to local building codes. Graduates emerge ready to work in diverse environments, ranging from residential homes to industrial complexes.
