Practical Nursing

Locations: Uniontown, Hermitage  |  Duration: 12 Months

This 12-month diploma practical nursing program focuses on the skills and functions of the practical/vocational nurse.

Skills Development:

Monitoring Stable Patients
Assist With Hygiene, Adls, And Basic Patient Care
Obtaining Patient Vital Signs & Patient Data
Medication Administration
Changing Bandages, Foley Insertion, Etc.
Inserting, And Maintaining IV Therapy
Listening To Patients’ Concerns
Reporting To RNs And Doctors
Ensuring Patients Are Comfortable

Hands-on skills are taught in the classroom, simulation/skills laboratory, and numerous clinical practice settings! The various healthcare clinical experiences are strategically planned to align with the learning objectives for each level of the program.

Clinical experiences provide students with the opportunity to apply nursing theory and critical thinking skills to patient care situations to help develop sound clinical judgment and quality patient care.

Admission Requirements

Wonderlic SLE minimum score of 20 or greater or ATI TEAS: Minimum Score of 50 in Math and English Components and a 60 on the Science and Reading Components; taken within past 2 years; Applicants must submit a GED, official high school transcript, and/or post- secondary/LPN transcript with a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA to be considered; Student must be 18 years old prior to class start date. After admission, students are required to complete components to be eligible for the clinical experience.
